Hello I'm Alexzia!
The story behind Awe Therapy.
The simple story is, my initials are AWE: Alexzia Wagner-Engman.
The more complex one is, when I looked up the definition of "awe", it felt so fitting for why we go to therapy and what we are trying to achieve.
Awe is a complicated feeling that's hard to explain. It can feel good, bad, or both at the same time. People often describe awe as a mix of fear and wonder. You might feel awe when you think about how vast the universe is and how small you are, or when you feel deeply connected to other people, animals, and nature. Awe is a very rich and complex experience, much like the human one.
When I decided to start my private practice, it stemmed from experiencing the most awe-inspiring moment of my life: having my medically complex daughter. It was a time when I felt the most fear and the most happiness simultaneously. This lived experience has continued to teach me how to lean into and feel all emotions.
